In a Dutch nature protected area called “de Lindevallei” near Wolvega, a white-tailed Eagle (Haliaeetus albicilla) was found dead.
To determine the cause of death forensic research was carried out. This showed that the animal was shot.
Police launched an investigation and is looking for witnesses. In the Netherlands, the white-tailed Eagle is a very rare bird and has the status of a protected native species.
The eagle was probably shot down over the weekend from 2-4 December 2016
