In Ukraine, hunting is forbidden from March through July, but poachers become more active with the beginning of the spring migration of wild birds, Ukrainian State Forest Resources Agency Acting Deputy Head Khrystyna Yushkevych has stated on her Facebook page.
According to her, an issue of protecting and recovering wild animals is one of the agency’s priorities.
“Therefore, I have already instructed that enhanced raiding patrols be arranged and conducted to protect the state hunting fund. Especially this refers to the illegal hunt for wild geese and ducks, as well as damage to their breeding grounds,” Yushkevych noted.
Raiding patrols will be conducted in cooperation with the National Police of Ukraine. Yushkevych also called on environmental public organizations, mass media, activists and concerned people to join patrol activities.
