In January and February 2017 Lipu dismantled 38 bird catching sites along the coast and the Mediterranean, a few steps from the sea. A quantity that rises up to 64 considering also 36 sites were dismantled in the mountain region of Gutturu Mannu, where Lipu volunteers also been active for two weeks. 1,500 traps were found including thrushes, blackbirds and bucks that were caught in these traps. Lots of live birds were released in nature again.
Thanks to the cooperation, the exchange of information, the use of new technologies and collaboration between Lipu and the forestry environmental Supervisory Body of Sardinia Region the actions has led to other important results in late January with an extraordinary arranged and coordinated action in Sulcis, in Sarrabus and in the service of Giara Cagliari Territorial Inspectorate of Forestry.
A total of 930 birds were confiscated of which 500 robins and 430 thrushes and also 2,500 snares and traps.
