CABS Italy (Giovanni Malara) reports about a huge seizure of “Birds for Consumption” in South Sardinia
The huge seizure, made by the National Police, underlines once more the problem of widespread bird trapping in South Sardinia.
The police discovered the deadtbirds during a routine check on the road and stopped a lorry which was smuggling 5,000 song thrushes (Turdus philomelos) hidden in big bags.
The lorry was driven by four well-known offenders from Quartu Sant’Elena, village close to Cagliari, the main city of the area and most important black market of Sardinia for poached birds.
