The Hortobágy National Park Directorate has recently discovered poisoning at two different sites
One case was discovered by a public announcement and the other was found by members of the Board’s Nature Conservation Service
The poisonings affected 3 eagles and 16 buzzards – unfortunately this is an outstanding figure among the known cases
Our Board of Directors will do their best to investigate such cases through increased geographical presence and national coordination of toxicology testing orders.
This does not seem to be unique cases: the number of eagles killed as a result of poisoning nationally last year reached the same level as in 2012 when the European Union HELIKON Life nature conservation project began to combat it with great force.
This trend seems to continue since 2012
In the cases mentioned above, reports have been made, and it is up to the investigating authority now to locate the offender (s).
