A CABS team led the police to a hotspot of illegal hunting in Valcamonica, Lombardy, Italy, where they were able to arrest two poachers.
The two perpetrators – father and son – had shot a total of 78 protected birds in just one hour. In addition to many Chaffinches (Fringilla coelebs), Siskins (Carduelis spinus) and Robins (Erithacus rubecula), they had shot Pied wagtail (Motacilla alba) , Yellow wagtail (Motacilla flava), Linnet (Carduelis cannibina), Brambling (Fringilla montifringilla), Meadow pipit (Anthus pratensis) and a Coal tit (Parus ater)
One of the shooters had no hunting license and was not allowed to carry a weapon, the other was a licensed hunter.
The police have secured the birds along with weapons and ammunition (photo).
During this CABS bird protection camp in Brescia, 41 poachers were reported to the police,. 99 nets, 234 net traps and 367 bow traps were confiscated.
