CABS Bird protection camps in Serbia
19 August 2017 CABS started a Bird protection camp in Serbia. In the Balkans, the use of illegal locks is widespread in quail hunting. Hundreds of these machines, powered by batteries, are in the fields of Serbia and attract the now-running quail. The calls crawl them a suitable resting place – but instead of rest and food they expect the hunters! Each plant can attract up to 100 birds in one night, a majority of the unsuspecting animals are shot down.
Last autumn, together with our Serbian partners and the police, we cut 56 locks (photo), 21 hunters will be charged. The quail population is sinking all over Europe – meanwhile, the small chicken fowl is at risk.
