Another hard night (22-10-2017) in Cyprus: In the last 12 hours, the CABS teams on the Mediterranean island have found four active trapping sites with numerous glue sticks and freed over 1000 Blackcaps (Sylvia atricapilla) (see photo).
The night action was not without danger – more than once, our members had to hide because the bird poachers appeared at night with torches on the landing spots to look what they already catched. The CABS bird protection camps has been running for 7 weeks, together with the police and the hunting authorities, we have already dismantled 2,846 glue rods, 120 nets and 123 electronic devices to lure birds . 20 poachers were caught, 354 birds were released. The action in Cyprus runs until November
