The NOA (Nucleo Operativo Antibracconaggio), anti poaching squad of the Italian Forest Police (Corpo Forestale) had 86 prosecutions after 21 days of activities in the valleys of Brescia in October 2016.
With just three patrols available, NOA was able to catch 86 poachers and trappers.
During this activities 22 shotguns, 900 snap traps for robins, 200 bow traps, 89 mist nets were seized.
About 800 live Passerines, which were illegally caught by trappers, were released in nature. Next to that thousands of Passerines were found dead in refrigerators of the poachers.
The NOA is a good, and maybe the best, example of a dedicated anti-poaching unit; Very good results in a very short time with an average of catching 3 trappers per day.
