A serious warning has been given by agents of the ONCFS (national office of hunting and wildlife) of Gers ) to those who poach thrush and lark, two bird species that are particularly popular at this time of the year.
It is a large-scale operation that environmental inspectors from ONCFS Gers conducted for ten days, reinforced by colleagues from neighboring departments (Haute-Garonne, Hautes-Pyrénées and Tarn-et-Garonne) and by the mobile intervention brigades of Brittany-Pays de Loire.
During the migration period of thrushes and larks from late October to November, Italian poachers were put under control with a convincing result.. Eight rifles and more than 60 illegally hunted birds seized by inspectors
Over a period of ten days, the inspectors drew up nine reports for the use of prohibited materials, eight tape recorders and two walkie-talkies were seized, as well as eight rifles and other miscellaneous equipment.
Also seized were 14 thrushes and 49 larks found in the possession of the poachers and illegally caught in the process mentioned above.
